3-minute guide to buying the right ASUS ZenBook

ASUS is one of the world’s leading names in notebooks and its fast expanding ZenBook lineup has just about something for everybody. Here’s a quick guide to ASUS’ latest ZenBook lineup.

The Baby – ZenBook UX330UA

ASUS ZenBook UX330UA

The ZenBook UX330UA is the most basic notebook in the lineup, but there’s nothing basic about it offers. It is equipped with the latest 7th generation Intel Core processors, SSD storage, a regular USB 3.0 port, a USB Type-C port, even a backlit keyboard, and can be spec’ed with an ultra high-resolution QHD display that outputs at 3,200 x 1,800 pixels. Oh, and did we mention it offers up to 12 hours of battery life? The ZenBook UX330UA might be the baby of the ZenBook lineup but offers comparatively more than its rivals.

The Chameleon – ZenBook Flip UX360UAK

ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360UAK

Can’t decide between a tablet or a notebook? The ZenBook Flip UX360UAK makes that decision for you by offering you both form factors in a single device. The defining feature of this particular machine is its 360° degree hinge, which enables users to fold its display flat on its back, thereby turning it into a tablet. It’s super compact too, measuring just 13.9mm thick and weighing just 1.3kg. Best of all, it’s powered by Intel’s latest seventh generation Core processors and comes with all the ports you need, including a standard USB 3.0 port and a new USB Type-C port. In short, the ZenBook Flip UX360UAK’s convertible design offers users the best of a thin and light notebook and tablet in a single device. It is truly the best of both worlds. Experience it at a store to see how slim, light and portable this convertible notebook really is.

The Space Bender – ZenBook UX430

If you want a larger display, be prepared for a larger notebook. The ZenBook UX430, however, doesn’t subscribe to this rule. Even though it has almost the exact same dimensions as the 13-inch ZenBook chassis, it comes with a larger 14-inch Full-HD display. How did ASUS achieve this? Simple. By keeping the bezels to the absolute minimum. The bezels are just 7.18mm thin! And don’t think that performance has been compromised in any way, it still comes with Intel’s newest seventh generation Core processors, SSD storage, and it even has discrete graphics in the form of NVIDIA’s GeForce 940MX.

The Mobile Workhorse – ZenBook UX510

For work-minded individuals who demand a larger display and more computing horsepower, the ZenBook UX510 delivers all that and more. It has a 15-inch Full-HD display, equipped with the latest seventh generation Intel Core processors and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M GPU with 2GB of DDR5 VRAM. But perhaps most important of all, it remains slim and light. It measures just 19.9mm thick and weighs just 2kg, which are very impressive figures for a 15-inch notebook with discrete graphics. In other words, this is one of the more powerful and compact 15-inch notebooks in the market today.

The Stars – ZenBook 3 Series

The ZenBook 3 series – notably the UX390 and the Deluxe sister UX490 –  are easily the stars of the ZenBook lineup. Both notebooks are remarkably crafted with aircraft-grade aluminum and elegant gold trimmings. But more than that, they are incredibly thin and light. Thanks to ultra-slim bezels, the larger ZenBook 3 Deluxe UX490 is just 12.9mm thin and 1.1kg, whereas the smaller ZenBook 3 UX390 is a mere 11.9mm thin and unbelievable 910 grams. Yet despite their compact dimensions, both notebooks can be equipped with Intel’s seventh generation Core i5 and Core i7 processors and super-fast PCIe-based SSDs. These two notebooks also feature fast-charging technology, enabling them to reach 60% charge capacity in a mere 49 minutes.

In addition, the ZenBook 3 Deluxe (UX490) has more tricks up its sleeves. Apart from its larger 14-inch Full-HD display, it also has more ports. Specifically, it has two USB Type-C ports supporting Thunderbolt 3, which allows it to output to two 4K displays simultaneously and also hook up to the ASUS XG Station 2 external graphics dock to boost its own graphics performance. The Thunderbolt USB Type-C ports also enable quick transfers with compatible external storage devices, making the ZenBook 3 Deluxe UX490 ideal for performance-hungry individuals who need a really portable (and pretty) companion.
