Roland SH-32 Review

The sound of the SH-32 is fat and analog.

The Roland SH-32 is a tabletop synth/drum module that is highly tweakable and portable, taking up very little room. It was a pleasure to work with the intuitive user interface. The interface gave me the ability to tweak all of the synth parameters and gave me a visual reference as to what each tweak was doing to the sound.

The sound of the SH-32 is fat and analog. It reminded me at times of the Roland JP-8000 keyboard. Also I loved the classic TR-909, and TR-808 drum sounds that were included in the unit. With 32 voices of polyphony, the user can create thick analogesque synth lines, along with classic rhythm sounds used in hip hop, and todays dance music styles, all with this one synth.

Everyone, from a musician on a budget who needs an all in one solution, to a synth/dance artist who needs fresh sounds, can easily create great work with the Roland SH-32.
