Roger Linn Design AdrenaLinn II Review

I heartily recommend the AdrenaLinn II for the fun this product instigates and the way it makes you look at your guitar playing.

I’ve been a guitar player for over 25 years and I have seen a lot of products come and go. I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I first plugged my guitar into the AdrenaLinn II. As I scrolled through the factory presets, something became immediately apparent. This was no ordinary guitar processor! Instead of your basic distortions and chorusy clean sounds, these sounds had an extra dimension to them that I couldn’t immediately put my finger on.

I looked at the top of the unit and saw a matrix of parameters, so I began tweaking. The deeper I got, the more I realized what was lurking below the surface. After about 30 minutes of twiddling, it dawned on me that I had never even cracked the manual! The end result was that all of the different amp models truly sounded different from one another, as they should, and the effects were not the usual ho-hum bag of tricks. That alone differentiates the AdrenaLinn II from most of the other multi-effects processors on the market.

Then I discovered the drum machine! It was as if the sun suddenly came from behind the clouds! All the radical over-the-top sounds that were just interesting before suddenly became focused as to their purpose. Every little oscillation or twinkly filter or extremely long delay worked and worked well in the context of the drum machine! I get it now! The cool factor on this piece just jumped ten-fold! I heartily recommend the AdrenaLinn II for a variety or reasons, but mainly for the fun this product instigates and the way it makes you look at your guitar playing. Forgive me for using a cliche, but the AdrenaLinn II is truly inspirational!
