LG SJ9 soundbar review – add some serious audio punch to your TV viewing
When it comes to the home viewing experience, sound plays a big part but with TVs getting thinner it’s hard to get that big sound which is why a sound bar like LG’s SJ9 can make a huge difference.

LG’s SJ9 is suitable for TVs 55-inches and larger and measures 1.2m long, 15cm wide and just 6cm tall so it’s not going to distract you when it is sitting in front of the television.

To hear Dolby Atmos you can only use the HDMI connection either directly to a compatible TV or to your 4K Disc player or Blu-ray disc player.
With the built-in Sound Sync, the LG SJ9 will be able to be controlled with your TVs remote so you can turn it on with your television or and control the volume with the same remote.
You will easily notice the difference with the sound when the LG SJ9 is connected.
In fact, the sound quality is so good you’ll never go back to hearing just your TVs speakers.
The audio clarity is remarkable and the subwoofer chimes in beautifully and with authority.
But it’s not just the sound quality that will impress you, it’s also where the sound appears to be coming from.
From the unit at the front of the room under your TV, you will hear sounds that will be coming from behind you and around you.
And, if you’re watching a movie with Dolby Atmos, the sound will also come from above you.
Imagine a scene where a plane flies over you or a helicopter hovers above, Dolby Atmos can move or pan that sound in the direction it is moving in the movie.
Similarly, it can provide amazing atmospheric effects – hence the name Atmos – so it can sound like you’re in a forest or in a nightclub or in the middle of a gunfight.
That’s what you get with the LG SJ9. It will draw you even deeper into whatever you’re watching and add to your enjoyment.
Dolby Atmos content is not hard to find. It’s on most of the latest release 4K and Blu-ray disc movies and is also available with some movies on Netflix.
You can also enjoy the audio quality of the LG SJ9 soundbar to stream your music either via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
It’s easy to link the system to your wireless network and add the soundbar is another of your multiroom speakers.
Similarly, if you’re sitting closer to the SJ9, you can simply pair with it over Bluetooth and enjoy your music through your favourite streaming services.
As a music player, the LG soundbar also sounds excellent. As a matter of fact, you could also enjoy hi-res audio with the SJ9 up to 24-bit/192Khz.
Users can connect their audio device with as cable to the SJ9 to enjoy even higher quality audio.
The LG SJ9 soundbar is priced at $1,699 which may sound like a lot but when you consider it can match the quality of more expensive multi-speaker surround sound systems with less hassle and easier installation, then it’s actually not bad value.
